Diario di un fotografo murettista. Capitolo 10/11 – 31^ GHD “I Feel Slovenia” Ilirska Bistrica
Lunga.. questo è l’aggettivo che mi viene in mente per descrivere la gara di Ilirska Bistrica. Quando si alza la competitività aumenta pure il rischio di sbattere, di fare danni, di rompere ed è quello che succede alle gare all’estero.
Ma procediamo con ordine.
Il viaggio per arrivare in questo piccolo paese al centro dell’Istria è molto piacevole e lasciate le caotiche autostrade italiane ci si immerge in tanta natura, in una statale rilassante, verde, scorrevole. Piccoli paesi, piccoli bar, piccoli ristoranti con la loro griglia all’esterno ed un maialino che gira ad invogliare i passanti.
E’ piccola Illirska, ma ha forte il segno del cambiamento dei tempi, con tanti cartelli e tanti nomi che testimoniano una globalizzazione e una modernità che fino a 30 anni fa era impensabile o coperta dal dolore e dal frastuono dei mitra e delle bombe. Palazzoni austeri e anonimi e le luci di LIDL, Eurospin e delle altre grandi catene sono ormai il segno distintivo e contrastante di questi piccoli centri abitati.
E’ impensabile (e fa anche un pò incazzare) come in poco più di 3 decenni si sia fatto un salto in avanti così, quando qui da noi siamo fermi come mentalità e tenore di vita al boom degli anni 50.
E il grande salto in avanti lo hanno fatto anche nel motorsport, proponendo sempre nuove gare e proponendosi alla ribalta delle competizioni europee con tanta qualità organizzativa, l’appoggio delle istituzioni e quel “I feel Slovenia” che campeggia anche nell’intestazione della gara e che dimostra di quanto un evento internazionale sia sentito e supportato.
Ve li immaginate Salvini, Abodi che presenziano alla partenza del CEM a Trento, o Ascoli, o Malegno?
E poi si, di queste gare mi ha colpito, da sempre, da quando le frequento, anche un altro aspetto forse paradossale: la grande varietà di auto che sono iscritte. Non c’è la rincorsa all’ultimo modello, alla macchina costosissima, ma si corre con tutto.. ha 4 ruote ed un motore elaborabile? Allora è una macchina da corsa. Nomi “esotici”, modelli visti solo sulle riviste da malati quali siamo, magari in qualche film che racconta la sfida di spionaggio e controspionaggio tra USA e URSS, tutto riporta ad un passato che per noi è fin troppo passato e ci si immerge in un mondo che si barcamena tra la modernità e la guerra fredda.
Yugo, Trabant, vecchie Toyota, vecchi modelli Volkswagen, BMW di ogni epoca, Ford, Lancia, Opel, Skoda, Dacia, Lada e tante altre marche che da noi, bah, sono forse poco instagrammabili o poco fighe, ma vi garantisco che ruggiscono e graffiano come leoni.
Da quelle parti hanno il gusto dello studio, dell’elaborazione, dell’essere proprietari ed artefici dei successi e degli insuccessi. Hanno tutto nelle loro mani.
Ci sono vetture curatissime, altre meno, alcune sembrano navi spaziali fatte di cartone, in alcune si sente il profumo dei soldi in altre il sudore delle serate passate in officina a studiare qualche metodo artigianale e casalingo, per rosicchiare qualche decimo e qualche posto in classifica in gruppi da 30, 40, anche 50 vetture.
Un profilo sull’anteriore, a volte dall’aspetto e dalla funzionalità discutibili, soluzioni estetiche magari scimmiottate da modelli ufficiali, auto non sempre in ordine, con qualche strisciata o con qualche ammacco di troppo, cicatrici di un guerriero, i segni di belle battaglie, tirate, leali, e di posizioni, a volte vittorie volute, conquistate, bestemmiate.
Cosa rimane di queste cose da noi? Purtroppo nulla, salvo qualche caso isolato, stiamo diventando la patria di un professionismo forse troppo ostentato, che sta facendo perdere di vista cosa sono davvero le salite.
Sapete che all’estero non esistono noleggi? Ogni pilota ha la sua vettura, la sua creatura che cura, lucida, pulisce, AMA.
Quanto era bello prima, quando ogni persona arrivava col suo carrello, curava i dettagli, lucidava la carrozzeria, puliva i vetri, puliva le gomme e la sera si godeva una meritata cena dopo tanto lavorare. Quei tempi mi mancano e apprezzo chi ancora vive le salite in quella maniera.
Certo, sia chiaro, non disprezzo o condanno gli altri, ma da buon nostalgico ho una visione più romantica delle salite, una visione che mi riporta agli anni 80 o 90, con i paddock meno scenografici ma più veri e “ruspanti”.
Amo il modo estero di concepire la vita da paddock, con i camper accanto alle auto, come a voler vivere ogni singolo istante, le grigliate fino a notte fonda anche tra team rivali, le luci fioche di poche lampadine e le braci che aprono l’oscurità, i profumi, il vociare, le risate. E’ un modo anche questo di condividere, con il tanto pubblico che anima le zone dell’assistenza, l’orgoglio di essere pilota, l’orgoglio di portare in gara la propria creatura. È bello vedere quanti si avvicinano curiosi e timorosi e vengono invitati a entrare, a guardare, a fotografare. Condivisione, orgoglio, gratitudine.. queste sono le parole che vedo negli occhi di chi è in auto con il casco e di chi è fuori a vederli passare.
Il weekend si è velocemente spostato dai box alla strada e la gara, nei due giorni, è stata tirata, infinita, tanti incidenti, tante bandiere rosse, roba da far prendere un coccolone a qualche nostro direttore di gara, che come i tori nelle corride è poco incline a questa variante di colore. Ma questo succede nelle competizioni e noi abbiamo anche perso il gusto di competere. Quante sono le classi totali in Italia, tra campionati maggiori e minori e quante sono le classi dove davvero si lotta e si hanno avversari degni di nota e di un buon numero di iscritti? Beh, lascio a voi la risposta a questa domanda.
Questo abbassa lo spettacolo e la competitività e naturalmente il rischio di incidenti perchè tanto, se basta portare la macchina all’arrivo chi se la rischia?
Hanno rischiato tutti perchè li si festeggia anche si arriva decimi su quaranta, tutti hanno dato il massimo nonostante un meteo pazzo che ha sconvolto ogni piano ed ogni programma, anche quello degli organizzatori.
Ecco, se proprio devo trovare una pecca riguarda la rilassatezza degli addetti ai lavori, nel ripristino della strada.
Ogni azione è lenta, calma e non credo sia per valutare bene la situazione, credo sia più un fatto culturale. Vedete? Anche all’estero hanno dei difetti anche se in tutto quello che ho scritto non sembrava.
Ad essere sincero, un’altra cosa da rivedere c’è stata, proprio sul finire della gara, al serpentone finale. Roba da pazzi vedere tutta quella gente in strada, ad incitare i piloti con bandiere, fumogeni, addirittura bambini felici di poter dare il cinque ai loro beniamini. Scene da far accapponare la pelle e mi chiedo, come può un direttore di gara o addirittura un commissario permettere tutto ciò, come può mettere in pericolo tutta quella gente. E se succede qualcosa? Pensate quanto può essere bello per i piloti avere tutta la strada libera, senza nessuno che li disturba mentre accelerano più in discesa che in salita, mentre fanno gli zig zag inutili per scaldare le gomme e avere uno dei pochi motivi per cui si corre in salita, l’incitamento del pubblico, a distanza siderale senza applausi, senza i sorrisi e i volti di chi è li solo per loro.
Mentre mi sono rimesso in macchina, troppo tardi per un rientro comodo e senza stress ho pensato che siamo arrivati al decimo appuntamento di questo discusso e strano Campionato Europeo, questo è il mio penultimo capitolo del Diario.. decidete voi se per fortuna o purtroppo.
Intanto continuo a godermi e a rivedere nella mia mente i passaggi delle auto più strane, belle e potenti di tutta l’Europa salitara. Sarà stata lunga ma quelle 15 macchine valgono stanchezza, pioggia, attesa e bandiere rosse.
